Tesla Commences Model 3 Deliveries in China Ahead of Schedule

0
February 26, 2019

"In a significant breakthrough, Tesla has begun delivering Model 3 cars in China ahead of schedule, looking to recover sales impacted by a prolonged trade face-off between China and the United States. Tesla's sales have been severely impacted by high tariffs levied at 40%, versus 15% earlier, on American built vehicles since last July. With China temporarily lifting an additional 25% tariff, Tesla is aggressively pushing its sales with a more, affordable Model 3 during this opportune and perhaps short window.
While Tesla currently imports all its cars, it is rapidly building a factory in Shanghai that will eventually manufacture Model 3 locally in China, in an effort to protect its foothold in the world’s largest EV automotive market.
