India Smartphone Monthly Model Tracker 2020 May (Online Channels)
Overview:
The India smartphone market declined by 62% YoY in May 2020 as the country recovers from the lockdown due to the COVID-19 impact. Online Channels recorded their highest ever market share in a non-festive month getting more than 48% share in the Indian Smartphone market. Amazon became the top online channel in terms of smartphone shipments for the first time. Xiaomi was the biggest player on both Amazon and Flipkart.
The offline market declined heavily by 67% YoY as the country was partially open in Lockdown 4.0 stage and higher preference for Online social-distancing deliveries. Amidst the step by step re-opening of offline stores, all Brands suffered but Xiaomi owing to strong consumer demand was able to get the #1 spot in Offline market for the first time
