The Indian government announced a ~$10 billion semiconductor PLI (Production Linked Incentive) scheme in 2023. A lot of companies have shown interest in investing and developing semiconductor and display fabs in India. This includes large Indian conglomerates as well as foreign direct investment. Micron was the first company to announce that it would be setting up a factory in India.
