"Sony and Samsung had announced 48-megapixel sensors earlier this year and real-worldimplementation is just around the corner. Huawei has announced the View 20 which uses Sony's sensor and Xiaomi is also on track to release a 48-megapixel behemoth soon. According to Xiaomi's co-founder, the phone is due to launch in January of next year. While 48 megapixels may sound like a staggering number, the hardware, sensor size and software will greatly affect image quality. Real world tests will yield concrete evidence of the level of disruption these sensors will bring to the megapixel race." - Alex Mathew
