India Monthly Smartphone Model Tracker (Online Channels), March 2025

0
May 15, 2025

Overview: India's smartphone market improved marginally by 1% YoY in March 2025, but declined by 7% YoY in Q1 2025. The muted performance was driven by macroeconomic pressures, subdued consumer sentiment, and brands focusing on inventory correction rather than aggressive sell-in. vivo emerged as a bright spot, posting 10% YoY growth in March—one of the highest among leading brands. This growth was primarily driven by strong traction in the sub-INR 15K segment, particularly from its Y and T series, which gained momentum in offline markets. Samsung retained the second position for the third consecutive month, supported by a diversified portfolio strategy. Launches across the Galaxy A, M, and S series addressed a wide range of price points, helping maintain shelf visibility and drive consumer interest. The online channel share slightly increased to 40% in March 2025, with Xiaomi leading the segment. However, models like the Redmi Note 14 series, Redmi 14C 5G, and A4 5G witnessed lower-than-expected consumer traction, prompting the brand to adopt a more cautious approach focused on inventory clearance.
