New Local Content Regulation- An inroad to Indonesian Smartphone Market

In July 2016, Indonesian govt. introduced new TKDN rule on local content requirements for smartphones which states that staring from 2017 all 4G smartphones sold in Indonesian market need to have 30 percent local content both in hardware and software. In this report, we have analysed the current manufacturing ecosystem of Indonesia, imports vs local manufacturing share, market share of top brands in local manufacturing, LTE smartphone penetration in local manufacturing.
