Overview:
In Q2 2024, the 5/4nm nodes remained dominant, holding a substantial 25% share, driven by strong AI demand despite challenges in the Android smartphone sector. The 7/6nm nodes secured 11% of the market, while 3nm technology climbed to third place with a 10% share, up from fifth place in the previous quarter and highlighting robust demand for TSMC’s N3 process as utilization rates reached full capacity. The 28/22nm nodes captured 8% of the market, benefiting from restocking activities in both the PC and smartphone segments. However, while leading-edge nodes continued to see strong demand, mature nodes experienced sluggish growth due to delays in non-AI-related demand recovery.
