  • The X100 series has already achieved significant sales, and the X200 series aims to further vivo's position in the premium smartphone segment.

vivo unveiled its latest flagship smartphones, the X200 series, in Beijing on October 14. The vivo X200 series offers three options – the base edition, the Pro edition, and the new X200 Pro Mini. All three variants are powered by Dimensity 9400, a cutting-edge processor that delivers exceptional CPU, GPU, and NPU performance. Combined with vivo's ‘Blue Chip’ stack and the latest originOS 5, the X200 series offers industry-leading computing capabilities and a smoother, smarter user experience.

The launch marks the beginning of a new cycle of flagship smartphone releases by Chinese OEMs. Over the years, Chinese OEMs have made considerable progress in mobile photography, allowing customers to capture professional-grade photos with just a touch on the smartphone screen. This has helped further boost sales in the Chinese premium smartphone market. In the >$600 segment, Chinese smartphone sales increased 16% YoY in 2023, compared with a 3% growth in 2022. In contrast, sales in the overall market slipped 1% YoY in 2023 and tumbled 14% YoY in 2022.

vivo’s X100 series has already achieved impressive sales of over 3.9 million units in China by September 2024.

The brand has been focusing on high-resolution video shooting as its next milestone to narrow the gap with top global smartphone brands. This will also help the brand cater to the growing demand for high-quality vlogging equipment.

Following the footsteps of X100’s videography achievement, the vivo x200 Pro supports 4K 120fps video recording and cinematic slow-motion recording. Both front and rear cameras offer full-focal-length 4K 60fps HDR Dolby Vision. The X200 Pro’s main camera has adopted the new Sony LYT-818 sensor, which delivers exceptional HDR performance for vibrant and dynamic videos. Additionally, the inclusion of full-focal-length 4K 60fps 10-bit Log video caters to the creative needs of professionals.

Backlit portrait videography has long been a challenge for smartphone cameras. The vivo X200 Pro offers significant improvements in 4K backlit portrait video thanks to enhancements in its main camera's video performance, the V3+ image processing chip, and its self-developed photography algorithms.

The X200 Pro also inherits the impressive 200MP periscope camera from the X100 Ultra, with optimized mechanics for faster autofocus. To further enhance portrait photography, vivo has added a 135mm focal length option to its multi-focal portrait package, creating a more dramatic and immersive sense of depth.

vivo has collaborated with ecosystem partners like ATL, Sony, ARM and MediaTek, which have led to significant improvements in the aforementioned videography performance (powered by the LYT818), battery life management and overall user experience.
