OPPO recently held the OPPO Developer Conference at Hangzhou in China with the core theme of “AI, One Step Closer” to showcase its in-depth exploration and latest achievements in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). The company also launched ColorOS 15 under the theme of “super light, more comfortable”, focusing on smoothness, AI, design, ease of use and other aspects to bring a new experience to users.
To fundamentally solve the fluency problem of Android, ColorOS 15 has innovatively launched “Aurora Engine” and “Tidal Engine”. Aurora Engine realizes the synchronous rendering of multiple animations through the self-developed parallel drawing framework, effectively solving the problem of stuttering in complex animation scenes in the traditional Android system and bringing users a smoother visual experience. Tidal Engine goes into the bottom of the system, intelligently schedules chip resources, and dynamically allocates computing power according to different application scenarios, thereby improving the overall system performance and optimizing power management. ColorOS 15’s dual-engine combination improves overall system smoothness by 22%, while also extending battery life by 12 minutes.
In order to enable more convenient and intelligent AI interaction, OPPO has introduced the SenseNow framework. The framework significantly improves the accuracy of voice wake-up through multi-stage wake-up, personalized voice recognition and other technologies and realizes hybrid image retrieval and multi-agent recognition. With a simple voice command, users can complete a variety of mobile phone settings and application operations and enjoy more intuitive and personalized intelligent services.
OPPO deeply integrates AI with smartphone operating systems by integrating system applications and third-party applications. The new voice assistant’s “one-click ask screen” function supports voice dialogue and circle search to achieve AI one-stop service. Users only need to ask a simple question to get an accurate answer and suggestions about the content on and off the screen. They can even directly issue instructions, such as for picture editing and document format conversion. This greatly improves the efficiency of user interaction and brings a smarter and more convenient mobile phone experience.
ColorOS 15 has a new design. The “unlock animation” (which provides colorful inspiration themes), AI depth-of-field matting, AI intelligent filling and other functions combine to create a unique personalized smartphone. In addition, the dual-float window-free switching, reversible album editing, Live Photo and other practical features, as well as the ease of interaction with iOS, make ColorOS 15 a system that is both beautiful and practical. The upcoming OPPO Find X8 series and OnePlus 13 will be the first to feature this new system.
Compared with the independent AI functions launched by smartphone OEMs in early 2024, such as call summaries, AI retouching and semantic understanding, AI is now more deeply integrated with the operating system. Extending from voice assistants to multiple interactive entrances such as text input and camera preview, AI allows users to easily access services in more scenarios. Through massive data models, AI can more accurately understand user intentions, and when this ability is better combined with the underlying smartphone system, it can enhance the role of AI and change the way users use mobile phones.
OPPO also attaches great importance to the construction and expansion of the developer ecosystem. During the conference, the company also announced a series of support policies and plans like unified server and application updates to attract talented developers to join OPPO’s ecosystem, and jointly promote the innovations and applications of AI technology.
