Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold7 Makes Foldables Mainstream in Western Europe

September 10, 2025
  • The Galaxy Z Fold7 has become Samsung’s fastest-selling foldable smartphone in Western Europe.
  • In its first 4 weeks of sales, the Galaxy Z Fold7 sold over a quarter of a million units in Western Europe, more than double that of its predecessor, the Z Fold6, in the same time frame and almost 70% more than the previous best-selling Samsung foldable, the Z Fold4.
  • The Galaxy Z Fold7 is Samsung’s thinnest, lightest and most powerful book-type foldable to date, with an improved camera module and advanced Galaxy AI features. Helped along by Samsung’s market-leading reach and brand awareness, the Z Fold7 has pushed foldable smartphones into the mass market.
  • However, competition is fierce, and HONOR and Google are hot on Samsung’s heels with impressive device launches of their own in August. With Apple expected to enter the foldable segment in 2026, it is an exciting time for the smartphone market in Europe.

The Galaxy Z Fold7, launched in July 2025, has become Samsung’s fastest-selling foldable smartphone in Western Europe, according to Counterpoint Research’s Weekly Smartphone Tracker. In its first four weeks of sales, the Galaxy Z Fold7 sold over a quarter of a million units in Western Europe, more than double that of its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold6, and almost 70% more than the previous best-selling Samsung foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold4. It is also more than any book-type or clamshell foldable smartphone from any other OEM so far in the region.

Commenting on Samsung’s latest foldable smartphone, Associate Director Jan Stryjak said, “After years of iterative upgrades, the Galaxy Z Fold7 is a major step forward, and Samsung has finally closed the gap on the competition. It is Samsung’s thinnest and lightest book-type foldable yet, and with its improved camera module and advanced Galaxy AI features, the brand seems to have finally brought foldable smartphones to the mass market.”

Speaking about the increasing competition in the foldables segment, Stryjak said, “Of course, Samsung is not the only foldable player in town, and HONOR and Google have recently launched impressive devices of their own. With the former’s Magic V5 re-taking the crown as the world’s thinnest book-type foldable, and with a much larger battery and a slightly lower price too, it could also prove very popular. Add to the mix Google’s Pixel 10 Pro Fold and Apple’s expected entry into the segment next year, it is a very exciting time for the smartphone market in Europe.”
