Huawei Dominates China’s Top 10 Best-selling Smartwatch Series Amid Rising Local Brand Momentum

April 9, 2026
  • Seven out of the top ten best-selling smartwatch series in China were from Huawei in 2025.
  • China is the largest market for smartwatches, contributing 30% of global shipments. Despite high volumes, the market continues to grow across all segments of smartwatches, with the HLOS category witnessing the highest growth.
  • China recorded the fastest smartwatch growth globally in 2025, supported by government subsidies and rising local brand adoption.
  • Huawei led the market, followed by Imoo and Xiaomi, while Apple’s shipments declined.

Huawei’s Watch GT 5 topped the list of best‑selling smartwatch series in China in 2025, replacing its predecessor series Watch GT 4, according to Counterpoint Research’s Global Smartwatch Shipments Tracker. Huawei continued to be the market leader in China with 42% share, driven by strong consumer adoption of its new launches, including the Huawei Watch 5, Watch Fit 4 and Watch Fit 4 Pro.

HLOS (advanced) smartwatch models accounted for around 50% of the Chinese smartwatch market in 2025, as consumers increasingly opted for devices that go beyond basic functionality and offer enhanced health tracking, ecosystem integration and long‑term value. Kids’ and basic smartwatches contributed 27% and 23% of total shipments, respectively.

Huawei captured seven out of the top 10 smartwatch series in 2025, one more than the previous year. Imoo also sustained a strong presence with two top-10 placements, consistent with last year. The combined shipment volume of the top 10 smartwatch series grew 27% YoY, indicating a growing consumer preference for leading brands. This consolidation reflects a mature market in which brand trust, ecosystem integration and premium features increasingly influence purchase decisions.

China represents the largest market for the country’s leading manufacturers, accounting for over 84%, 75% and 49% of Imoo, Huawei and Xiaomi’s shipments, respectively, in 2025. This strong consumer allegiance reflects a clear preference for locally made products. Shipments were also supported by the Chinese government’s electronic goods subsidy program, under which a 15% discount of up to CNY 500 (~$70) per item is available on smartphones, tablets, smartwatches and fitness bands priced under CNY 6,000 (~$850), with one item allowed per category.

Huawei’s 7 models in top 10

  • Huawei’s Watch GT 5 series led the Chinese smartwatch market in 2025, following the footsteps of its predecessor lineup Watch GT 4. Watch GT 5 grabbed the top position, driven by health features such as stress tracking, skin temperature measurement and menstrual cycle tracking, all offered within the $100-$200 price band, a key consumer sweet spot that Huawei is effectively leveraging.
  • Watch GT 5 Pro secured the second position in 2025 shipments. In addition to the standard GT 5 features, it offers ECG and atrial stiffness analysis, as well as a professional golf mode. It is built using aerospace‑grade titanium alloy (46 mm) or nano‑crystal ceramic (42 mm).
  • Watch D2 recorded the highest growth among the top five best‑selling smartwatch series in China, with shipment volumes rising 9x YoY in 2025. This growth was driven by the series’ recognition as a medical device for blood pressure measurement in China, which also qualifies it for medical insurance coverage.
  • Watch GT 4, which was the volume leader in 2024, slipped to fourth place, displaced by newer and more advanced series.
  • New launches in 2025, including the Huawei Watch 5, Watch Fit 4 and Watch Fit 4 Pro series, also secured positions in the top 10. The Watch 5 series was introduced as the company’s first AI‑powered smartwatch, incorporating Pangu and DeepSeek large language models (LLMs). Its Celia AI assistant supports voice commands for over 100 sports modes and 15 health apps, delivers personalized responses, and provides daily updates on weather, news and more.
  • Watch Fit 4 and Fit 4 Pro strengthened Huawei’s presence in the basic smartwatch segment. Both series feature an AMOLED display, up to 10‑day battery life and Huawei’s TruSense system for heart rate, SpO₂, sleep breathing, stress monitoring, and menstrual cycle prediction. The Fit 4 Pro further includes a titanium alloy bezel with sapphire glass, a lightweight aluminium frame, and additional features such as a dive‑grade build and ECG support.

Imoo ranked as the second-best-selling smartwatch series in China in 2025, securing two positions in the top 10 with the Imoo Z6 Pro and Imoo Q3 series. The increasing adoption of kids’ smartwatches in China drove Imoo’s growth.

  • Imoo’s Z6 Pro was introduced as the world’s first kids’ smartwatch with a flip dual‑camera design, supported by swimming‑grade water resistance and a suite of child‑focused features like learning tools and kids-only social media. Its shipments were boosted by aggressive pricing, with effective prices ranging from CNY 779 to CNY 849 after bundled promotions and subsidies.
  • Imoo Q3 is a China‑specific series that gained traction for its floor‑level GPS and Beidou positioning certification, HD dual‑camera video calling and child‑focused functions such as SOS and class mode, supported by Imoo’s ecosystem.

Xiaomi secured the third position in terms of shipments in 2025, driven primarily by the Xiaomi Redmi Watch 5 series, which represented nearly 24% of Xiaomi’s shipments in China. The series led both Chinese and global basic smartwatch shipments in 2025, owing to its sub‑$100 prices.

The rising adoption of local brands negatively impacted Apple’s shipments in China in 2025, which declined 5% YoY.  As a result, Apple devices were absent from the top-10 list for the first time, highlighting a broader shift toward domestically manufactured brands.

Driven by strong adoption of local brands and government support, China’s smartwatch market recorded the fastest growth among all regions in 2025. Increasing adoption across device types indicates greater consumer awareness of specific needs, while manufacturers’ offerings reflect a clear alignment with evolving consumer preferences and market trends. These trends have been further catalysed by government subsidy programs. The Chinese government has announced an extension of these subsidies through 2026, which is expected to sustain growth momentum and enable the country to maintain its global leadership in smartwatch shipments. Building on their continued success in the domestic market, leading Chinese brands are also expanding globally to broaden their reach.
