  • At the event, Lenovo announced plans to increase manufacturing in India, expand its AI driven solutions, and establish R&D centers in the country.

  • The event also showcased Lenovo’s foray into cutting-edge concept laptops which were earlier unveiled at CES and MWC international events. These laptops focus on alternative form factors which are yet to go commercial but appear promising.

  • Lenovo also delved further into their ‘AI Now’ artificial intelligence platform which is likely to be part of many products in the company’s upcoming portfolio.

  • The company’s increased focus in India shows the potential it sees in the market.

Lenovo, one of the world's largest PC manufacturers, has consistently demonstrated its capabilities at major events this year, including CES, MWC, and most recently, India Tech World 2025 where the company highlighted its 20-year presence in India. At the event, Lenovo outlined its plans to expand manufacturing, launch AI PC production, enterprise solutions, AI-powered servers, and even establish a new R&D facility in the country. Lenovo engaged with both media and analysts, providing insights into its future growth strategies in the country and its focus on AI. There were separate sections for enterprise and consumers. The enterprise section included concept laptop models and a newly launched ThinkPad from Lenovo’s Aura series. The consumer section held creative workshops, gaming competitions and more.

Lenovo’s Cutting-edge Concept Laptops

The highlight of the event was Lenovo’s cutting-edge concept laptops. Their futuristic appearance brought in a lot of inquisitive visitors. These laptops included a ThinkPad Plus with an extendable screen, a Lenovo ThinkPad with an Auto-twist feature and also a laptop with a screen that was completely transparent. These models garnered quite a lot of interest and some of the most asked questions were on whether these models would be commercially launched in the near future.

Lenovo also showcased its on-device GenAI initiative called ‘AI Now’, which is integrated in the newly launched AI PC (40 TOPS) ThinkPad Aura. AI Now is a language model being promoted as a self-learning AI feature.

Lenovo recognises AI’s growth potential in emerging markets like India where there is already a rising interest in smartphones with AI features. Currently, AI features are being offered in not just high-end and premium smartphones but also in mid-level priced devices. This is most likely to happen with laptops as well. Lenovo is currently looking to leverage its experience in smartphones, tablets and PCs, and integrate ‘AI Now’ as a learning agent across its ecosystem to offer a better packaged product offering to its consumers.

AI PC demand is expected to rise globally in 2025, driven by new launches and upgrades. The latest chipsets from Qualcomm, AMD, and Intel will power the new generation of PCs. AI PC penetration is likely to increase in mature and emerging markets alike.

Global PC markets will witness growth in 2025-26, which will be fuelled by a new replacement cycle and increased adoption by enterprises, startups, and IT organizations. This trend will further grow due to AI adoption. However, given the relatively high short-term prices, companies must educate consumers on compelling use cases and the efficiency and productivity gains these devices can offer
