Market Outlook - Smartphone Model Level Forecast, March 2026 Update
Overview:
The global smartphone market is projected to drop by 12.4% annually in 2026, the worst annual retreat ever. 2026 will see volumes not seen since 2013 when smartphone adoption was starting to take off during the initial stages of LTE’s global rollout.
Additionally, OEMs are facing margin pressure to raise smartphone sales prices, a significant portion of which will be passed on to end consumers. However, we think that some parts of the market will fare better, especially in the premium segment. Apple and Samsung are expected to weather the headwind better due to an integrated supply chain and continued premiumization strategic shift. Memory supply for flagship devices is tight at higher prices, but in general, device availability should still be stable.
This Excel report presents quarterly forecasts of smartphone model shipments by major brands through the end of 2026.
