- Advanced notebook display shipments are forecast to grow 11% YoY in 2026, outperforming a broader notebook display market expected to decline 3%.
- OLED notebook display shipments are projected to rise 50% in 2026 and 24% in 2027, supported by anticipated adoption in Apple’s next-generation MacBook Pro models and demand for premium AI PCs, while MiniLED shipments are declining.
- OLED notebook panel shipments and revenues are forecast to grow at 26% and 35% CAGRs, respectively, from 2024 to 2030, supported by advances in panel performance, manufacturing efficiency and production scale.
San Diego, Seoul, Beijing, Buenos Aires, Fort Collins, Hong Kong, London, New Delhi, Taipei, Tokyo – October 8, 2026
The advanced notebook display market (OLED and MiniLED) is expected to grow 11% YoY in 2026, according to Counterpoint Research’s latest Advanced IT Display Shipment and Technology Report. This expansion contrasts with a projected 3% decline in the broader notebook PC display market, where persistent memory cost inflation and higher system bills of materials are weighing on demand.
OLED Takes a Larger Share of Premium Notebooks
OLED notebook display shipments are forecast to rise 50% in 2026 and another 24% in 2027. Apple’s anticipated adoption of OLED in next-generation MacBook Pro models, alongside continued demand for premium AI PCs, is expected to drive this growth.
MiniLED notebook display shipments, meanwhile, are projected to fall 38% in 2026 and a further 60% in 2027. The decline reflects manufacturers’ increasing preference for OLED’s thinner form factor, superior image quality and improving cost competitiveness.

Performance Improvements and Manufacturing Scale Strengthen OLED
Several technology developments are expected to enhance OLED’s appeal and improve its production economics:
- Tandem OLED architecture delivers higher brightness, improved power efficiency and longer panel life.
- Next-generation manufacturing technologies, including Visionox’s Intelligent Pixelization (ViP) and LG Display’s FLiPP (FMM-Less innovative Pixel Patterning), are expected to improve material utilization, yields and production efficiency.
- Commercial introduction of phosphorescent blue OLED emitters is expected to increase overall panel efficiency and reduce power consumption.
- Scaling Gen 8.7 oxide backplane production is expected to lower manufacturing costs and support broader OLED adoption across notebook PCs.
Strong Expansion Expected Through 2030
Counterpoint Research remains highly optimistic about the notebook OLED market, forecasting a 26% CAGR in panel shipments and a 35% CAGR in panel revenues from 2024 to 2030.
Revenue growth outpacing shipment growth points to an increasing average value per panel over the forecast period, alongside substantial volume expansion.
Associate Director David Naranjo said, “OLED notebook PC growth will increasingly depend on translating advances in panel performance and manufacturing into compelling products at competitive prices. Apple’s anticipated adoption and demand for premium AI PCs are expected to accelerate the near-term transition, while improvements in efficiency, panel lifetime and production scale should support broader adoption through 2030.”
