Counterpoint Conversations: QNX and Vector Accelerate Automotive Software Integration with Alloy Kore

At CES 2026, QNX launched its Alloy Kore automotive software platform. QNX and Vector collaborated to develop Alloy Kore, which is a pre-integrated and pre-certified software foundation designed to enable automakers to focus on the application layer, which helps shape the user’s experience and their perception of the vehicle and automaker’s brand. In the latest edition of Counterpoint Conversations, Greg Basich, Associate Director for Automotive Practice at Counterpoint Research, and Patryk Fournier, Global Senior Product Marketing Manager at QNX, discuss what Alloy Kore involves and the industry challenges it addresses.

Addressing fragmentation and time-to-market challenges 

The goal of this effort is to address major issues in the automotive industry. Automotive electronics architectures have traditionally been distributed, with each ECU running software. As the industry consolidates vehicle functions in a smaller number of ECUs, the software stacks running in these more powerful devices are becoming more complex. This complexity has led to integration, testing and validation challenges, delaying time to market and increasing costs.  

To address these issues, QNX and Vector worked together to combine, optimize and pre-certify QNX’s software and Vector’s middleware in a single platform. They designed this as a “horizontal” layer that can support applications across ECUs. QNX can provide its QNX OS for Safety or the QNX Hypervisor for Safety 8.0. These solutions are supplemented by certified runtime environments (such as C/C++ and Rust) and inter-process communication (IPC). In addition, the companies noted that Alloy Kore complies with the ISO 26262 safety standard and ISO/SAE 21434 cybersecurity standard. 

During the demo, Fournier explained QNX’s view of the challenges facing the automotive industry, more about Alloy Kore and how Alloy Kore functions within the broader automotive software ecosystem. 

QNX and Vector are focused on providing a pre-integrated and pre-certified foundation rather than the application layer, freeing up automakers to focus on that since it offers more differentiation for consumers. 

Analyst takes 

As QNX is widely used in millions of vehicles every year, the company’s partnership with Vector to create a foundational software platform makes a lot of sense. As automakers increasingly require more control over their vehicle platforms’ software while simultaneously working to reduce their time to market, pre-integration and certification can help reduce complexity and development timelines. 

As of early 2026, Alloy Kore involves QNX and Vector, but company representatives have expressed interest in integrating other companies’ solutions into this platform.  

The platform has also gained industry traction, with automaker Mercedes-Benz being the first OEM to publicly announce it will be using Alloy Kore in upcoming models. This type of traction is important since there are industry SDV efforts that focus on reference designs and frameworks rather than production software. The automotive industry is focusing on more impactful collaborative efforts, and Alloy Kore is an example of this.
