"Honda and SoundHound formed a partnership in December 2018 to develop a voice-enabled AI assistant. This has now been launched as the "OK Honda" voice assistant based on the Houndify platform. This voice assistant will work on Speech-to-Meaning and Deep Meaning Understanding technology to support natural language recognition including complicated queries and situations.
In October 2018, Honda acquired a California based start-up, Drivemode to develop voice-enabled commands in cars. SoundHound is widely used by major automakers like Kia, PSA Group, Mercedes Benz, and Hyundai. The other major partners using Houndify platform are NVIDIA, Motorola, Deutsche Telekom, Pandora, and Harman. This new platform will increase competition in voice assistants in the automotive sector. The voice assistant will be a key feature in the next generation autonomous vehicles, so early entry is important to gain experience and an early mover advantage to Honda." – Soumen Mandal
