Market Monitor | Quarterly Vendor Revenue ASP Smartphones and Feature Phones Q3 2021
To quickly summarise:
- Global handset market wholesale revenue grew 10% YoY and 6% QoQ during the third quarter of 2021.
- While shipments declined YoY due to component shortages, strong shipments of mid-to-high-end smartphones drove the record third-quarter revenue of over $103 billion.
- Smartphone revenue share accounts for 99% of the overall handset market by revenue.
- Apple captured 37% of overall smartphone revenue. Apple’s wholesale ASP increased 28% YoY driven by the launch of the iPhone 13 series followed by the strong and consistent performance of its iPhone 12 series.
- Overall smartphone market ASP increased 18% YoY driven by an aggressive promotional push by brands for mid-priced smartphones because of chipset shortages.
