Overview:
India Smartphone Market Stayed Resilient During Second COVID-19 Wave and crossed 33 million Shipments in Q2 2021. This, combined with the record-breaking first quarter led to the highest ever first half in Indian Smartphone's market history. The market performed better than expected, the market shipped 33 million units as opposed to 26 million forecasted. The outlook for the next 2 quarters remains positive, we expect more than 100 million smartphones to be shipped in H2 2021. The market remains on course for the biggest ever calendar year. The main drivers behind the growth are the unlocking of COVID-19 restrictions, bouncing back of the economy, and the accelerated rate of vaccinations. The market for 5G devices will grow by over 8 times to reach 32 million units in 2021 which will make up 19% of the overall smartphone market.
To summarise, the Indian Smartphone Market will grow by 14% in 2021 to reach 173m and will further grow by 16% in 2022 to cross the 200mn mark.
