Overview:
India witnessed a severe and more virulent second COVID-19 wave, resulting in a lot of cases and fatalities. This has impacted the smartphone markets as well. Lockdown and restrictions has halted offline operations in some states and offline channels has taken a hot due to changed consumer behavior. Consumers are now preferring online channels for purchases. Offline heavy brands are impacted the most due to the restrictions.
We believe the market will recover by the third week of June. We may see an uptick in terms of shipments during July due to the pent-up demand. However, we believe the market will recover during the second half of the year and the India smartphone market will cross 100 million units in H2 for a second year in a row.
