Overview:
- US smartphone sales were up driven by continued tax season promos.
- Apple sales was up with “pro” models continuing to lose momentum while “non-pro” models gaining. iPhone 11 & 12 remain targeted at prepaid, while iPhone 13, 14 and 15/15Plus/15Pro/15Pro Max targeting postpaid.
- Samsung was up as newly launched A15 and A25 doing well. Galaxy S23 FE and Galaxy S24 series sales declined as carriers focused on tax season promos/prepaid market.
- While Apple and Samsung remained flattish during the week, Motorola drove growth driven by its newly launched sub$300 models stirring the prepaid demand.
- Motorola launched 3 new models in recent weeks – Moto G 5G 2024, Moto G Play 2024, Moto G Power 2024.
- OnePlus declined as Metro stopped selling Nord 300 towards end of Feb-23. OnePlus is now left with just 2 models being sold in the Metro by T-Mobile channel, other than unlocked devices through its own ecommerce channel.
- Other brands which are mostly targeted at prepaid declined as well, as new models from Motorola and Samsung are being promoted heavily taking all the consumer attention.
