Robert J (Bob) O’Brien is Co-Founder, Principal Consultant and CFO of DSCC. Bob has decades of experience turning market and business analysis into strategic insights in the display and electronics industries. At DSCC, Bob takes the lead role in analysis of display materials, including glass and AMOLED materials, and covers developments in TV and other large-screen display applications. He authors several reports and contributes regularly to the DSCC Weekly Review. At Corning, Bob led the CGT intelligence team in building critical tools for analysis of both short- and long-term dynamics in the LCD industry. In response to Corning’s vulnerability to supply/demand swings, Bob developed an analytical model for predicting glass demand based on the supply/demand dynamics of the LCD value chain. To increase understanding of the long-term dynamics of TV replacement, Bob led the efforts on consumer survey work to understand the replacement cycle of TV. As the cover glass market matured, Bob led the effort to explore and develop the Gorilla glass business in emerging markets. At LG.Philips and Philips, Bob led a cross-division team evaluating six different display technologies for the large-screen TV market.

About David:
David joined DSCC in May 2021 as Senior Director. David has more than 25 years’ experience in the consumer and commercial electronics industry. David’s professional background includes a wide range of responsibilities in product development, product planning, product management, product marketing, data analytics, and executive /operational management. Prior experience includes working in the consumer and commercial electronics industry as Director of Business Line Management at ViewSonic, Director of Product Planning at Samsung Electronics, Director of Connected Products at Kenmore, Director of Product Management at Mitsubishi Digital Electronics, VP of TV Market Research at DisplaySearch and Group Manager at Panasonic.
He first started working in display technology when he joined Plastic Logic (now FlexEnable) as an engineer to develop the first flexible e-paper display. That’s when he attended Display Week for the first time and became fascinated by this industry. After Plastic Logic, he became an analyst for IDTechEx and covered the progress of OLED and quantum dot displays, as well as the emerging sensors and haptics integrated in flat panels. NVIDIA Blackwell: World’s most powerful chip launched
NVIDIA introduced Blackwell, a powerful chip with 208 billion transistors, designed for training massive 10 trillion parameter AI models. It uses a custom 4NP TSMC process and connects GPU dies with a 10 TB/second chip-to-chip link. They also launched GB200 Grace Blackwell Superchip, linking B200 Tensor Core GPUs with the Grace CPU. Counterpoint Research predicts NVIDIA’s Data Center revenue to reach over $72 billion in 2024, a 134% increase from last year, thanks to Blackwell’s adoption by cloud providers and countries for their AI supercomputers.

NVIDIA NIM: Foundational software for AI deployments through API services
NVIDIA is driving AI adoption forward with the introduction of NVIDIA NIM, an API-based platform designed for AI inferencing. This is in addition to the NVIDIA Enterprise platform which already provides access to a suite of services for AI training and inferencing. This platform facilitates quicker deployment times and offers plug-and-play options, aiming to simplify the intricacies involved in developing software for AI inferencing. It provides access to ready-made platforms through APIs for inferencing AI models for real-time insights. NVIDIA has indicated a price of $1/per GPU/per hour for access to NVIDIA NIM.

Computational lithography accelerated by integrating cuLitho in production processes
The integration of NVIDIA’s cuLitho in semiconductor manufacturing will speed up photomask production that takes weeks to days and help reduce power needs and potential environmental harm, further enabling higher chip density and yield.
As semiconductor scaling becomes more complex, a greater number of foundries, EDA vendors and lithography equipment makers will be integrating the NVIDIA cuLitho in their process flow as the amount of data processing requirements in innovative mask techniques, photoresist modeling and high-NA EUV technology for new technology nodes is expected to increase significantly.
