Samsung’s 2026 TV Lineup: Bet on All Horses in the Display Technology Race

Now that Samsung has released features and pricing for its main premium lines of TVs, we can draw a complete picture of the #1 TV brand’s product portfolio. Since Samsung Display exited the business of making LCD TV panels a few years ago, Samsung Visual Display (the TV business) has been almost entirely a merchant brand, buying displays from third-party panel makers and adding its own features.

As a result, Samsung’s TV product line contains seven distinctly different flat panel display technologies. In order from highest to lowest (although Samsung describes Micro RGB and OLED as “co-flagships”, the marketing emphasis is on the newer Micro RGB):

  • Micro RGB: Samsung’s sub-brand for RGB MiniLED, with RGB LEDs as a backlight
  • OLED TV using QD-OLED panels
  • OLED TV using White OLED panels
  • Neo QLED: Samsung’s sub-brand for quantum-dot-enabled LCDs with blue MiniLED backlights
  • MiniLED: A MiniLED-backlit LCD without quantum dots
  • QLED: A conventional LCD with blue LEDs, edge-lit, with a quantum dot film
  • Crystal HD: A conventional edge-lit LCD without the quantum dots

On top of those seven variants, Samsung sells two TV-like products using non-flat-panel display technologies:

  • MicroLED, direct view with RGB LEDs, a consumer variant of Samsung’s “The Wall” display
  • The Freestyle and The Premier, portable and short-throw projectors, respectively

The next two charts show the pricing for the various FPD TVs, coded by display technology. The pricing is Samsung’s recommended retail price; actual prices are likely to be lower, especially during the discount selling season. The price range for a given screen size can be huge – Samsung offers 85” TVs from $699 to $6,499 and 75” TVs from $449 to $4,499. Of course, the difference between the $449 Crystal HD TV and $4,499 Micro RGB TV is more than just the display technology; styling, features, connectivity and video processing are scaled up for the premium sets. Nevertheless, the biggest differentiator remains the display technology.

Just one flat panel TV does not fit on the charts – Samsung’s 115” Micro RGB set is listed at $29,999. Similarly, the projectors do not have a fixed screen size but would likely fit above the right range of the charts at >100”.

Samsung’s TV product line includes 86 distinct models, and as the #1 brand, it seems to target every consumer at every price point. That’s a lot of product complexity to handle, and it may put Samsung at an operational disadvantage compared to some of its more focused competitors. But Samsung is betting that this comprehensive product line can hold off TCL and Hisense for another year.
