Overview:

India Smartphone market shipments declined by 2% YoY in June 2024. Shipments improved compared to previous months as the end of second quarter bought about a relief in heatwave conditions and some aggressive promotions by OEMs. Xiaomi led the smartphone market with 20% share in June 2024. It gears up for its 10th anniversary in July and marking the occasion with product launches across various device categories. Xiaomi has been improving its marketing strategy and expanding its distribution channels. Samsung shipments declined by 15% YoY in June 2024, but it led in value terms for the second consecutive quarter, capturing over one-fourth of the market. Its new Fold 6 series is expected to sustain this leadership with brand’s focus on value over volume. Online channel shipments were down by 6% YoY in June 2024. Xiaomi led the online market with 24% share in June 2024. The sale promotion like ‘End of season sale’ were active in the online market however, its share remained lower than 40% during the month.

T-Mobile Posts Strong Q2 2024 Results, Expands Fiber Operations

Overview:

T-Mobile posted strong Q2 2024 results capturing more postpaid net adds that Verizon and AT&T combined. It officially infused Mint and Ultra Mobile subscribers into its prepaid base after the regulatory approval of the acquisitions. This put even more distance between T-Mobile and the others as the leader in the US prepaid space.
