"Huawei has closed a deal with Dutch navigation and digital mapping company TomTom to use TomTom's mapping service in its smartphone apps.
Following being added to the US entity list, Huawei is determined to keep pushing forward with alternative approaches. For example, its own play store, the HarmonyOS, and now this deal. Huawei is building its own mapping technology called "Map Kit" and this agreement is likely a steppingstone towards it. It's also a potentially big win-win for TomTom.
However, despite this and other deals, Huawei will continue to struggle outside China without permanent access to Google’s GMS services. " – Abhilash Kumar
