"Algar Telecom, the smallest Brazilian operator, with presence in only few regions, joined the list of Brazilian operators to test 5G technology. It tested it in laboratory conditions and only at 3.5 GHz frequency. It did the test with Huawei’s network technology and the Huawei Mate 20X 5G devices. The company’s CEO Jean Carlos Borges noted that currently there are only a handful of 5G devices available in the market, but this should change soon. One of the frequencies that ANATEL (Brazilian telecom regulator) will offer in the first round of 5G spectrum auctions will be 3.5 GHz. Huawei’s technology and the local university, La Universidade Federal de Uberlândia, has been very active in offering 5G testing facilities to the Brazilian operators." – Tina Lu
