"On May 12, Baidu signed a data center landing agreement with Xi'an Municipal People's Government. The Xi’an Aerospace Base will be the base for the Baidu Cloud Computing (Xi'an) Center Project. According to the company, Baidu Cloud Computing (Xi'an) Center will be a green, energy-saving, technology-leading, ultra-large-scale cloud computing center. This will be Baidu's first large-scale self-built data center with a scale of more than 100,000 units in the western region. Baidu is investing aggressively to increase its presence in the Chinese cloud computing space which is currently dominated by Alibaba and Tencent. Similarly, earlier this year, Baidu announced plans to set up an AI cloud computing center in the northern Chinese city of Baoding. The ever-increasing spend on cloud computing from Baidu is due to their "ACE" program, launched in November 2018, to focus and promote autonomous driving, connected roads, and efficient cities." – Prachir Singh
