"Yandex, Russia’s top technology company, has signed a deal with Hyundai Motor Group to develop self-driving car technologies, as the two firms race to catch up with Alphabet’s Waymo, Tesla and General Motors. The race to build fully autonomous cars is forcing traditional carmakers to partner with tech groups that are keen to share expertise and develop joint platforms. This is Yandex’s first partnership with a carmaker. Hyundai is making up for its weakness in the autonomous space and taking the right steps in pursuing this kind of partnership with foreign technology companies. The venture plans to have 100 vehicles running within the year in Russia and other countries where Yandex has a license to operate autonomous cars." – Vinay Piparsania
