July handset sell through picks up after a weak June which is encouraging but inventory levels are still high. This still casts a shadow on the second half. The US recovers but China and Europe are still weak compared to previous years.
Smartphones were almost 60% of the market and Android share is hovering above 80%.
Samsung’s handset market share slumps as it focuses on smartphones and overall lackluster demand in the declining feature phone segment. Samsung’s share is steadfast at 35% in smartphones. Apple loses share and the winners are little know brands like Coolpad and Oppo. Nokia recovers slightly with lower-tier Lumia models such as 520, 620 ramping up and LG is also on the track to secure the Number 3 spot in the handset market...
