January handset sell through dropped 1% compared to December but wasn’t that steep due to the Chinese New Year sales. Sell in fell further reducing inventory slightly. Sales in Japan were slow after an unusually strong December. US and European markets showed weak demand as usual seasonality.
Smartphones are now 66% of the market. Android share was 76%. But iOS share fell to 17%. Samsung sales rebounded slightly in January after a weak December.
