• Global mobile phone shipments reached 455 million units for the first time ever growing 5% annually
• LTE was the fastest growing segment as the total demand grew 231% YoY compared to last year crossing 180 million units in a quarter
• LTE shipment volumes is now the leading cellular access technology surpassing 2G GSM/GPRS/EDGE and 3G UMTS/WCDMA/HSPA
• Apple dominated the high-value LTE segment with a 31% share in Q1 2015 due to solid demand for its newly launched iPhone 6 & 6 Plus models moving towards an all-LTE portfolio
• Apple & Samsung together captured half of the global LTE segment volumes though Chinese brands are taking share away from incumbents in the high growth China LTE market
• Huawei was the second largest LTE mobile phone supplier during the quarter in China and third globally
• China is the top LTE market contributing to almost 43% of the global LTE shipments
• TD-SCDMA segment continued to shrink as most of the Chinese OEMs (Huawei, Xiaomi and Lenovo) have upgraded portfolio to LTE smartphones
• In 3G UMTS/WCDMA segment, Samsung dominated in Q4 2014 with 30% share followed by Alcatel One Touch, LG and others
• Apple was the top LTE supplier in Western Europe followed by Samsung, both together captured 81% of the Western European LTE market
