Mar 10, 2022

Overview:

Global XR shipment volume declined by 6% YoY in Q4 2021. Although VR Standalone, the single biggest form factor, grew marginally, every other form factor declined significantly, causing this annual fall in overall shipments. The biggest contributor to this decline was the VR Tethered form factor which fell by over 50% due to a fall in Sony’s PSVR shipments as many of its users are waiting for its second generation PSVR. The shipment share of VR Standalone form factor crossed 90% in Q4 2021, up from 82% in Q4 2020. In the current quarter, 88% of all VR Standalone shipments are contributed to by Oculus, followed by Chinese brands such as Pico and DPVR which contributed about 5% each.
