"Xiaomi is trying hard to change its positioning as a smartphone OEM to an internet service company. Its stock has plummeted to an all-time low last week when a six-month lockup period following its IPO expired. It is also facing headwinds in the domestic smartphone market and as a result couple of announcements in the past few weeks have been around its ecosystem strategy. We believe that it has identified some good product categories in the IoT space. However, the higher dependency on the home market will remain. To tap markets outside China it needs to identify specific categories and strike relevant local partnerships to succeed" - Tarun Pathak
