Dec 9, 2024

Overview:
India smartphone market shipments grew by 3% YoY in Q3 2024. Early onset of festive season sale than last year led to OEMs proactively filling channels leading to growth in this quarter. However, festive sales started at a slower pace compared to the last year. Due to early onset of festive season sale, most of the festive sell in happened in September i.e., in Q3 which was not the case last year. Also, we are expecting flattish growth in festive sales. Therefore, OEMs would be more cautious and will focus on clearing inventory leading to 1% degrowth in Q4 2024. Therefore, overall, we believe India Smartphone shipments are estimated to grow by 2% YoY in 2024 driven by premiumization and 5G upgrades
We expect the Indian smartphone market will be growth path next year, with an expected 6% YoY increase. Consumer sentiment is improving, and government policies aimed at reducing unemployment are contributing to a positive outlook.
