India Monthly Smartphone Market Analysis 2021 Aug

Overview: 

India’s smartphone shipments declined 1% YoY to cross 16 million units in Aug 2021. However, the market grew 1% MoM during the month. The yearly decline can be attributed to the high pent-up demand that was witnessed during the last year post lockdown. According to our recent retail surveys, the offline channels are witnessing high consumer demand. However, the online share increased in August 2021 as OEMs look to infuse the channel with stock in preparation for the festive season.

The feature phone market crossed 7 million units driven by itel, Lava, Samsung, Nokia, and Reliance Jio. May and June were abysmal months for the feature phone segment as the sell-out was heavily impacted. However, the feature phone market bounced back since July and is currently on a growth path.
