Overview:

As tablets have a shorter viewing time than smartphones and televisions, manufacturers have not seen the need for using higher-quality displays in tablets so far. However, as consumers spend more time on their tablets for remote learning and working due to COVID-19, demand for higher-quality displays is beginning to increase. We believe the Mini LED and OLED tablet market will experience considerable growth starting 2022. However, Apple, the industry leader, is not expected to adopt OLED panels for iPads in the near term. Mini LED will continue to find a place in the iPad Pro for a couple of years due to Apple's focus on diversifying the supply chain to reduce dependence on one vendor. As Apple's display technology selection is the most critical determinant of which technology dominates this market, we will see the OLED tablet market recording limited growth till 2023, although it will ultimately become mainstream in the long term.
