Global smartphone shipments are forecast to decline 5.3% YoY in 2023 to reach 1.16 billion units, the lowest in a decade, as macroeconomic headwinds and weakness in consumer demand pressured the sector throughout the year. However, for the global foldable smartphone market, shipments are advancing in the opposite direction. However, the global foldable smartphone market grew continuously in 2023. In Q3 2023, the global foldable smartphone market increased 27.5% YoY, based on sell-in volume, to reach 7.09 million units, driven by the Chinese foldable market (up 172% YoY), the Asia-Pacific foldable market (up 178.5% YoY) and the MEA foldable market (up 134% YoY).
