0
Dec 21, 2021

Overview:

China’s smartphone sales fell 9% YoY to reach 77 million units in Q3 2021. Demand remained weak for the second quarter due to the lack of catalysts for further market growth. Economic uncertainty, COVID-19 flare-ups and turbulence in the property sector contributed to consumers hesitating to spend on big-ticket items. We foresee a rebound in smartphone sales in Q4 however, traditionally the quarter of sales activities. For 2022, we foresee a 2% YoY increase in smartphone sales. Despite the lack of growth, competition for market share between OEMs will continue to be fierce.
