China Auto Restrictions – A Pyrrhic Victory?

Overview:

The United States, Canada and European Union have announced tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles. These unilateral trade restrictions will slow down China’s automakers and restrict their access to Western markets. But, at the same time, they will bring unintended consequences for Western automakers in terms of restrictions on market access, import of their cars made in China, battery sourcing and technology collaboration.
