Bangladesh Quarterly Handset Market Analysis

Overview:

Bangladesh handset market grew 12% YoY to reach 7.9 Mn unit shipments in Q2 2019.
Smartphone shipments grew 29% YoY to reach 2.5 Mn units. Feature phones market share is on a decline as local smartphone manufacturing is witnessing a boost.
Local manufacturing saw a growth of 13% QoQ in shipments, driven by Walton, Samsung, Symphony, Itel, and 5 Star.
Smartphone prices are set to go up with the government’s proposal of raising the import duty on smartphones to 25% from 10% to promote local manufacturing.
