Samsung once again led the smartphone bestseller list for Latin America (LATAM), capturing 4 of the Top 10 spots in 2025, according to Counterpoint Research’s Model Sales Tracker, December 2025. This performance was driven by Samsung’s diverse product portfolio, strong channel play, and good understanding of regional preferences. The Samsung Galaxy A06 was LATAM’s best-selling model in 2025. It held the number one position for 11 months and accounted for 7% of the total market sales in 2025 and 5% more sales than its predecessor. The Top 10 models contributed to 33% of the region’s overall smartphone sales, with most of them priced below $200.

The Galaxy A16 4G closed the year in the second spot, driven by a sales increase during the fourth quarter due to price promotions and strong distribution channel supplies.

The Motorola Moto G15 4G took the third spot, closely followed by the Xiaomi Redmi 14C. Although Motorola is maintaining a good strategy with faster time to market for some of its models, the brand faced some headwinds in the region in 2025 as it cleared excess inventory and faced competitive pressure from brands like Xiaomi.

The Redmi 14C 4G reached the fourth spot, with its sales peaking during Q2 and part of Q3, driven by an aggressive pricing strategy. Xiaomi sales are slowly transitioning from the Redmi 14C to the new Redmi 15C.

The shift has been gradual due to the two models having similar price points and Xiaomi also tweaking its channel strategy for the region.

Only two 5G devices made it to the Top 10 list. The Moto G35 5G and Galaxy A56 5G showed that 4G is still a dominating technology when it comes to affordable smartphones. In response to this price-sensitive market focused on entry-level and mid-range devices (which represented around 76% of the region’s market in 2025), the OEMs still remain aggressive with their 4G offerings. Brazil, Mexico, Colombia and Argentina are the largest smartphone markets in the region and all of them are focused on devices priced below $250.

We expect smartphone prices to rise in LATAM, driving longer device replacement cycles and an overall contraction in demand, due to increasing memory prices, which will particularly impact the entry-level and mid-range segments. At the same time, this shift could accelerate 5G adoption during 2026. By late 2025, LATAM consumers were increasingly showing a willingness to raise the spend to acquire new devices with improved cameras, more battery capacity, bigger displays, and also 5G connectivity.
