Source: Global Smartphone Chipset Market Analysis Q2 2024
• Apple: Apple’s chipset shipments decline in Q2 2024 due to seasonality. Apple recently launched two chipsets A18 and A18 Pro. iPhone 16 base models will come with A18 chipsets and iPhone 16 Pro models will come with A18 Pro.
• MediaTek: The overall MediaTek shipments declined QoQ in Q2 2024. LTE SoC shipments saw a major drop sequentially. In MediaTek’s portfolio, the 5G penetration is growing in the sub-$120 smartphone segment, which should lead to market share gains for MediaTek, driven by its relative strength in entry-level 5G chipsets.
• Qualcomm: Qualcomm's shipments increased sequentially in Q2 2024, driven by the premium segment. The demand for Snapdragon 8 Gen3 is expected to remain strong due to the Samsung Galaxy Fold/Flip 6 series launch. Also, Mid-segment shipments increased, driven by Snapdragon 700 and 600 series chipsets.
• Samsung: Samsung Exynos saw a slight increase in Q2 2024 with the premium Exynos 2400 winning market share in the Samsung Galaxy S24 series. Shipments for the Exynos 1480 and Exynos 1280 increased due to the launch of the Samsung Galaxy A55 and Samsung Galaxy A25, respectively.
• UNISOC: UNISOC’s shipments increased in Q2 2024 due to the design wins with Vivo and Xiaomi. UNISOC continues to gain a share in the low-tier price bands (under $99) driven by its LTE portfolio.
