Survey Insights: How Mobile Gaming is Shaping Up in India

Overview: Counterpoint Research performed the study aims to understand the growing role of gaming in shaping smartphone usage, engagement, and purchase decisions in India. As smartphones become the primary gaming device across user segments, the research aims to identify how gaming behaviour varies by gamer type and age, and which hardware and feature attributes truly drive a good gaming experience. The study provides data-backed insights to help stakeholders align product design, performance optimization, and positioning with evolving consumer expectations, where gaming performance increasingly signals overall smartphone quality.

A quantitative online survey was conducted across India using a structured, closed-ended questionnaire, targeting a total of 1,100 respondents. Quota sampling was applied based on current smartphone brands to ensure a representative sample of Indian smartphone users. The survey captured a diverse set of respondents across key demographic segments to reflect heterogeneous user groups.
