Global sales of GenAI-capable smartphones doubled annually in Q2 2025, accounting for 32% of the total smartphone market. With nearly all high-end smartphones now launching with GenAI capabilities, the adoption of GenAI is accelerating rapidly. At the same time, the GenAI is penetrating the mid-range segment, further driving mainstream integration. The number of GenAI-capable smartphone models increased from 145 in Q1 2025 to 197 in Q2 2025, reflecting its growing presence across price segments.
Gen AI-capable smartphone sales grew across all regions. China remained the leader in GenAI capable market followed by USA. Emerging markets such as India recorded a 6x YoY increase in GenAI smartphone sales, driven by the growing premiumisation trend and the strong presence of Chinese OEMs introducing GenAI capabilities in mid-tier segments.
