After a stronger-than-expected fourth quarter, flat panel display fab utilization is trending down in Q1 2026, according to the latest release of Counterpoint Research’s Quarterly All Display Fab Utilization Report, issued last week. Panel makers are using the Lunar New Year holiday to retool and perform maintenance, with an extended break intended to constrain supply to support panel prices.
The report details monthly capacity, TFT input and utilization for every flat panel display fab in the industry, which means more than 100 fabs in all, and includes pivot tables to allow segmentation by supplier, country, TFT fab generation, backplane, frontplane or substrate type. The report provides historical utilization back to Q1 2019 and a forecast by month through the first half of 2026. Subscribers to the report can see our forecast for Q2 2026, but in this article, we will limit the discussion to the first quarter. New for 2026, we are offering a monthly fab utilization report, allowing even closer tracking of the FPD industry.
