Overview

India smartphone shipments declined 6% YoY in April 2026, impacted by continued smartphone price hikes driven by rising component costs and limited promotional activities. Consumer demand remained soft as buyers delayed purchases ahead of Summer Sale offers, resulting in weaker retail momentum. However, pre-Summer Sale channel stocking by some brands helped partially offset the decline. vivo continued to lead the market in April 2026, driven by the strong performance of its Y and T series. The newly launched V70 series also received a positive market response, gaining strong momentum and witnessing healthy consumer demand across channels. Samsung ranked second in April 2026, supported by its diverse portfolio spanning multiple price tiers. Strong performance from models such as the AFM1x series in budget, S26 Ultra in premium enabled the brand to sustain momentum. Online channel share reached 40% in April 2026, driven by brands stocking inventory in preparation for the summer sales season. Motorola led the channel with more than 20% share, driven by discounts on its Edge series and G series models.
