Overview:
In Q2 2024, global VR headset shipments declined 4% YoY and 18% QoQ. The YoY decline was primarily due to reduced shipment volumes from Sony and smaller OEMs. However, this decrease was less severe compared to the 29% YoY drop in the previous quarter. We observed a drop in Apple’s Vision Pro (AVP) shipments in Q2 2024, after accounting for the returned products from the US market during H1 2024.
Global AR smart glasses shipments declined by 13% YoY and 23% QoQ in Q2 2024. This decline marks the end of three consecutive quarters of YoY growth since Q3 2023, indicating a turning point in the development of the AR smart glasses market. The downturn in the growth of the AR smart glasses market can be largely attributed to insufficient upgrades in newly launched products, which fail to entice existing users to upgrade. Furthermore, the limited functionality of these devices continues to restrict their appeal to a broader range of audience.
